I grew up in Sacramento, California, one out of ten children. Eager to change my hectic childhood surroundings, I attended beauty school and pursued a career in wigs and hair design .A job opportunity relocated me to Lake Tahoe where I opened, owned and operated a successful wig and hair design studio. Using my creativity I designed wigs and personal hair styles, catering to the casino workers, showgirls and entertainers.
In 1983, after vacationing on Kauai, I experienced an uncontrollable draw to the warmth and beauty of this very spiritual and artistically inspiring tropical island paradise. I followed my irresistible calling and relocated there. After witnessing the complete devastation of the beautiful island paradise, from hurricane “Iniki” in 1992 , I started painting flowers on shirts and hats and in the spirit of "Aloha" gave them away to enlighten the spirits of the people of Kauai and help with the healing process.
Motivated by the positive reviews of my art on clothing , I decided to start to display my island images onto the canvas.
My inspiration comes from my mother who was a Disney cartoonist in the 50s. She recognized my artistic talents at a very early age and told me not to miss my "calling". Living on Kauai it is easy to be inspired by the positivity of the "Ohana" and the everyday, everywhere you look beauty.
.Today, my paintings are enjoyed by art lovers from around the world and have been described as “healing”, They can be easily recognized by my unique style, use of vivid ,bright colors and cheerful wide variety of subjects, combining fantasy with reality of flora and fauna of the islands
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
